From a basement office in his home in Victor, NY, Sean Donohoe had a vision to integrate engineering and construction services under one roof and offer a more cost-effective solution to his customers. He started DDS Engineers and Constructors in 2001 and expanded the Company’s services five years later when he purchased Rochester Utility Contractors, a long-standing, highly reputable utility construction company based in Rochester, NY. DDS broadened its scope even further in 2017 when it partnered with Feeney Brothers Utility Services, a leading utility service company located in Dorchester, Massachusetts, to form Feeney Utility Services Group.
Today, The DDS Companies provides comprehensive, turn-key services to the utility, pipeline, civil, engineering, and telecommunications industries throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, New York, West Virginia, and Ohio. Sean G. Donohoe
Founder
Sean has over 30 years of experience in design and construction. He started DDS Engineers and Constructors in 2001 and, with the addition of DDS Utilities in 2006, has led DDS Companies to become one of the fastest growing organizations in Rochester, NY. Under Sean’s leadership and vision, the DDS family of companies has grown to a staff of 500+ people in the past 17 years and currently is experiencing rapid growth throughout the Northeast. Sean is a licensed Professional Engineer in New York and Pennsylvania and holds a dual degree in Civil and Mechanical Engineering from Clarkson University.
Sean oversees The DDS Companies and sister company, Feeney Brothers, as Division President for Artera Services.
Michael M. Fallat
President
Michael Fallat, serving as the President, embarked on his journey in the construction industry at a young age. His ascent through the industry ranks began as a laborer during school breaks and continued as a project engineer during college. Since joining DDS in 2015, Mike has held various roles in both the Heavy Civil and Natural Gas construction divisions. Over the span of his career, he has successfully led teams on numerous large-scale civil projects and taken charge of gas distribution operations in multiple regions. The amalgamation of his experiences in project management, operational leadership, and customer engagement has aptly prepared Mike for his current role as President of the DDS Companies.
Brian J. Sorochty
Vice President, Engineering
Brian J. Sorochty holds the position of Vice President, Engineering, bringing with him an extensive background of over 25 years in engineering, planning, and management across various domains, including natural gas pipelines, municipal developments, commercial projects, and residential ventures. As the primary client manager at DDS, Brian shoulders the responsibility for the strategic workload, staffing, and financial aspects of the Engineering division. Brian's leadership extends to his team, which holds relevant experience in providing engineering and consulting services for a diverse range of energy companies.
Earl Knapp
Vice President, Utilities
Earl Knapp, in his role as Vice President, Utilities, brings to the table a wealth of expertise with over four decades of experience in outside utility construction. His extensive portfolio encompasses diverse projects involving underground gas, electric, and telecommunications throughout western New York. Earl's journey in construction commenced immediately after high school when he joined a utility construction company as a laborer. Over the years, he has steadily advanced through the ranks, holding every position along the way, and now stands as a seasoned professional with comprehensive management experience in the field.
Brian P. Carpenter
Vice President, Health, Safety, Security & Environmental
Brian Carpenter, serving as the Vice President of Health, Safety, Security & Environmental, boasts an extensive background of over 25 years in the Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, and Emergency Response sectors. Throughout his career, Brian has held diverse roles, taking charge of Health, Safety, Training, and Environmental Response teams. Brian's contributions include the successful implementation of Behavior Based Safety and Quality programs. He has played a pivotal role in building robust Environmental Response teams and brings a strong Operational Excellence approach to the overall team. In his current role at DDS, Brian is at the forefront, leading strategies related to Safety, Training, Security, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC).
Morgan Berardini
Corporate Controller
Morgan Berardini, holding the position of Corporate Controller, brings a decade of experience spanning both the manufacturing and construction sectors. Throughout her career, Morgan has been a valuable contributor to teams and has taken on leadership roles, emphasizing transactional and financial integrity. Her expertise extends to involvement in multiple ERP implementations, with a persistent focus on real-time data and procedural efficiency to enhance internal controls. With an MBA in Strategic Leadership from Medaille College, Morgan effectively manages and supervises the day-to-day operations of the accounting and finance departments at the DDS Companies.
John Kupiec
General Manager, Energy Services
John Kupiec, serving as the General Manager of Energy Services, brings close to two decades of combined expertise in the heavy civil and natural gas construction sectors across the Northeastern region. Since joining DDS in 2010, John has gained comprehensive experience encompassing design, estimating, project management, and field operations in the realm of gas facilities, pipeline projects, and heavy civil endeavors. In his current capacity, John holds the responsibility of overseeing and managing the Energy Services construction group for DDS.
Justin Cerqua
General Manager, Gas Distribution
Justin Cerqua serves as the General Manager of Gas Distribution, boasting nearly two decades of expertise in Heavy Civil Construction. His comprehensive experience spans estimating, project management, vendor management, Value Engineering design, and project close-out. Over the course of his career, Justin has effectively supervised the successful completion of numerous projects for DDS. In his current role, he holds the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day operations of our largest commercial division.
Matthew Muisus
General Manager, Telecom
Matthew Muisus, in his role as General Manager of Telecom, brings forth a wealth of experience exceeding 25 years in the telecommunications industry. His proficiency extends across both strong operational management and technical expertise in Fiber Optics, VoIP, and network installation. Over the course of his career, Matt has demonstrated leadership by successfully managing projects spanning across New York and Pennsylvania. Currently, he shoulders the responsibility of overseeing the daily operations of the Telecommunications division at DDS.
Matt Clark
General Manager, Civil
Matt Clark serves as the General Manager of the Civil division, bringing with him more than two decades of expertise in Heavy Civil Construction. His career began in the solid waste management sector, where he garnered substantial experience in mass earthwork, including roles in Surveying, Estimating, and Project Management. Since joining DDS in 2015, Matt has successfully overseen some of our most sizable and intricate projects, holding positions such as Project Manager and Sr. Project Manager. Currently, he spearheads the estimating department and oversees all operations within the Heavy Civil Construction division.
